Authority Preservation Drift occurs when an authority system begins prioritizing the maintenance of its position, status, influence, or control above the purpose it was originally established to serve.
The authority may have been legitimate.
The authority may have been competent.
The authority may even continue producing results.
But over time, preservation of authority becomes the primary objective.
The system no longer serves its mission.
The mission serves the authority.
